As a filmmaker myself, I’ve always been a bit uneasy with just how much footage never sees the light of day, story upon story left untold because one person decides to edit it out. Uncertainty and circularity have always been more comfortable territory for me than linear, black and white thinking. I must to do some more research into this, I’m intrigued!
Boy, you said it! I remember when I worked as an usherette in a movie theatre. I saw the same film time after time, so I knew the dialogue. It was interesting to see how people reacted differently to the same film, the same lines. What would have one audience rolling in the aisles with laughter would have another silent as statues. Such is the dance of life, I guess. Who can figure it?
