a ghazal
Her gestures made tender and fine by that she has known
Certain nothing can crush the spine of that she has known.
An image of bone and breath beneath transient aquarelle
lain over oil over form over line of that she has known.
A sandstorm whips the body to remap an evolution.
It takes more than earth to realign all that she has known.
Weaving a braid from the girl the maid the woman.
Three fingers trace the serpentine of all that she has known.
The slow extraction of sermons from a ribbon of gut
leaves an unadulterated lifeline to that she has known.
